The popular rock star was born on May 25, 1978, in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, but was raised by his parents, Gordon Gontier and Patricia Duffy, in the Markam region of Ontario. Gontier was enrolled in Adam Scott College and Vocational Institute, a middle school located in his hometown of Peterborough. After his parents divorced, he moved to Norwood, Ontario, where he was admitted to Norwood District High School. It was at Norwood that he met Brad Waist and Neil Sanderson, who would later become members of the Three Day Extension rock band.
In 2005, Gontier was admitted to the Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH) training center located in Toronto, Canada, following a mental breakdown. It was during his rehabilitation that he started writing songs for Un-X and some personal songs. A drama documentary detailing his addiction and life in rehab was produced in 2007. In 2006, the talented guitarist joined the Canadian rock group Big Dirty Band playing alongside Alex Lifeson, Jeff Burrows, Care Failure and a few other musicians. Five years later, 2011 to be precise, Adam Wade Gontier started his own music record label, which he called Signature Sludge Factory Recordings Before the Curtain, a hometown band.
Adam Wade Gontier left a three-day extension on January 9, 2013, and in 2015 he signed with Saint Asonia, a Canadian-American rock band, as a rhythm guitarist. The same year he joined the supergroup, their debut album titled Saint Asonia was released.
Gontier’s musical career has seen him perform and collaborate with several other musicians, rock bands and songwriters. Notable musicians he has collaborated with include Ian Thornley, Ben Burnley, Shaun Morgan, Kevin Brown, Kim Brown, Grainne Ryan and Max Martin. He played alongside famous American rock band, Daughter and another Canadian rock band, Art of Dying. Cale Gontier, Adam’s cousin, happens to be the bassist for the Art of Dying band.
Gontier also did shows and concerts this time as a solo artist. He has also released several solo songs and in March 2013 he went on his first solo tour which he called Adam Gontier Solo Live Tour.
